Valtrex is an antiviral used in patients with normal immune systems to treat herpes zoster infections (shingles) or to suppress and prevent genital herpes. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Valtrex works by disrupting the process by which the herpes virus reproduces itself and spreads to other cells in the body.
