Generic Name: Fluoxetine (floo-OX-uh-teen)
Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia and also premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Prozac works by regulating the rate at which the brain functions uses a chemical called Serotonin, stabilizing the patient to a more moderate mood level.
