Proacar is an androgen hormone inhibitor used in men to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which is swelling of the prostate.
Proscar works by lowering the amount of a hormone in your body called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Reducing this hormone level in your body help reduces the swelling of the prostate and reduce the symptoms of BPH.
NOTE: Proscar is a high-dose form of a medication called Propecia and should NOT be prescribed for Propecia use as a treatment for male pattern hir loss and baldness.
