Generic Names: Norgestimate (nor-JES-ti-mate) and Ethinyl Estradiol (ETH-in-il ess-tra-DYE-ole)

Ortho is an estrogen and progestin combination contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. It may also be used to regulate the menstrual cycle, treat symptoms of menopause, or treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Ortho works by preventing a woman's fertile egg from fully developing each month. By this, the egg is prevented from being fertilized.
