Generic name: Lamotrigine (la-MOE-tri-jeen)
Lamictal is used in adults with Epilepsy to control a type of seizure called partial seizures. It is also used in adults and children with generalized seizures related to Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome and used in the treatment of bipolar disorder to reduce the occurrence of mood problems. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Lamictal is believed to work by affecting chemicals in the brain involved in seizures and in bipolar disorder.
