Gleevec is a protein-tyrosine kinase inhibitor used to treat a certain type of leukemia (chronic myeloid leukemia or CML) as well as certain intestinal tumors (GISTs). It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Gleevec works by helping your body stop making too many abnormal white blood cells that your body cannot control itself.
