Generic name: Letrozole (LET-roe-zole)
Femara is an aromatase inhibitor used to treat breast cancer in women after menopause. It is also used to treat advanced breast cancer in women with a progression in the disease after other antiestrogen therapies are taken.
Femara works by slowing or stopping the growth of cancer cells produced by decreasing the amount of estrogen produced by the body.
