Generic Name: Fluorouracil (flure-oh-YOOR-a-sill)
Efudex is an antimetabolite used to treat actinic or solar keratoses, which is a skin growth condition caused by overexposure to sunlight or ultraviolet radiation. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Efudex works by turning the affected ares of the skin abnormally red then blistering and lesions of the affected skin forms, killing the diseased or cancerous skin cells before a new skin layer forms.
