Celebrex is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) known as a COX-2 inhibitor used to relieve pain and swelling (inflammation), arthritic pain, acute pain and menstrual pain. It is also prescribed in some cases to decrease intestinal growths (colon polyps) in persons with a family history of this condition. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Celebrex works by blocking an enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins, reduce conditions of pain, swelling and discomfort.
